A classroom-first approach

It started in Madrid.

In September 2011, founder Peter Muller was teaching English in an elementary school nestled in the mountains north of Madrid, Spain. Ricardo, the main teacher whose classroom Peter was assisting in, suggested that they collaborate on a song for their 1st graders.

At the time, Peter was producing music and dj’ing on the weekends in downtown Madrid. Merging the worlds of language education and music felt natural. The first collaboration was a song about Animal Habitats, straight from the textbook the students were using at the time.

Towns and Cities as a concept was born that day. We’ve since worked with schools in Oakland, California, and private English teachers in Madrid, Spain.

Towns and Cities draws from the universal use of music as a learning tool with a modern and technology-forward approach.
